Biographical Note

André Leste obtained a first degree in Education, and a Masters degree in Educational Psychology at the University of London. He also completed a Doctorate in Social Psychology at the University of Sussex. He has taught in primary and secondary schools, and colleges of further education in England and Seychelles. He coordinated the International B.Ed. Programme, directed research at the Ministry of Education and the Institute of Early Childhood Development, and was the National Research Coordinator for surveys of educational achievement in primary schools conducted by the Southern and Eastern Africa Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality (SACMEQ). He also held the post of Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education for many years. His research interests include movement therapy, youth socialization, teacher education, educational equity, and child development. He is currently an Independent Consultant collaborating mostly with the Institute of Early Childhood Development in national action planning and monitoring research undertakings.
