IECD launches video competition Challenges parents to create play activities using empty plastic containers and carton boxes

With the Covid-19 home restrictions, the Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD) has launched a video competition, in which parents are being invited to challenge themselves in coming up with 4 play activities using two main items – the empty plastic containers and carton boxes.

The competition aims to promote the importance of play, which has many benefits for a child’s development. It promotes brain development, including stimulation and learning among many other benefits. Above all, play provides parents with the opportunity for some fun and quality time with their children.

The competition, launched on Monday February 8, 2021, will close on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

It is opened to all parents with toddlers aged between 2 and 3 years old.

The video with the best play activities will win an amazing prize.

To participate, participants must submit a short two-minute video of their child playing the four activities that they have created using empty plastic containers and carton boxes.

Among the four play activities, two must be with plastic containers and the remaining two with carton boxes.

Participants are free to use other materials in combination with the two main items.

The videos can be submitted until Monday, February 15, 2021 either by email at celizabeth@iecd.gov.sc or WhatsApp on 2715256.

More information about the terms and rules of the competition is available on the IECD Facebook Page.
