May 20, 2026Last week, we had the honour of welcoming the delegation from the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), as part of the Targeted Review Mission on education in Seychelles. The delegation was led by Her Excellency, Professor Olive Mugenda.
The mission assessed the quality, governance, efficiency, and effectiveness of Seychelles’ education system — within national, continental, and global frameworks including Agenda 2063, SDG 4, and CESA 16-25. The CEO, Mrs. Choppy also participated in an exclusive interview two weeks ago. She shared the Institute’s achievements, and challenges, in governance, financing, regulatory, research and programmatic areas, since its inception to date, and discussed the way forward.
The engagement opened an important platform for dialogue and collaboration, reaffirming Seychelles’ leadership and IECD’s commitment to strengthening education and early childhood development.
“Such an exchange provides a valuable opportunity for IECD, as a Global UNESCO Category 2 Institute for ECCE, to share good practices and its vision with the APRM, while also highlighting what can be achieved on the continent through cooperation and knowledge-sharing.”— Ms. Seth, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange, IECD.
