JOINT PRESS INVITE

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD)—a UNESCO Category 2 Institute—cordially invites you to a special forum to unveil the findings of a nationwide assessment of creches and preschools.

Last year, supported by funding from the Ministry, IECD conducted a comprehensive study to evaluate the quality of the current provisions in creche and preschools across the country. This exercise was a vital step in preparing the Institute to assume its role as the official quality assurer and inspectorate of formal early childhood education, as outlined in the Early Childhood Act, 2022.

The results of this study will serve as a foundation for policy development and the establishment of new national standards for creches and preschools.

During this forum, consultants involved in the project will present the study’s key findings. The session will be followed by interactive discussions with relevant stakeholders, including head teachers of primary schools, early childhood coordinators, and creche teacher in-charge.

Additionally, the event will recognize and honor individuals who contributed to the successful conduct and data collection of the study.

This assessment was conducted in partnership with various sectors involved in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), including the health sector, social affairs, education, planning authorities, Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services, and public health.
