On Friday 13th June, the IECD-UNESCO Category 2 Institute hosted its first-ever Media and Creative Artists Engagement Session, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to enhance outreach and collaboration with media professionals and creative practitioners. The event aimed to showcase the Institute’s initiatives, gather valuable feedback, and foster stronger partnerships within the media and creative sectors.
The session was officially inaugurated by IECD Board Chairman, Dr. Javier Rose, who underscored the importance of building robust collaborations. “Together, we can increase awareness, deepen engagement, and continue promoting early childhood care and education, which are vital for the holistic development of children, their families, and communities,” he stated.
During the event, the findings of the IECD recent Advocacy Survey was revealed with 86% of respondents showing some level of knowledge about the Institute’s programmes and initiatives. Additionally, the Institute unveiled its new three-year Communication Strategy, with the strategy document presented to Dr. Rose by Ms. Shelda Commettant, Director of Advocacy, Information, and Capacity Building.
The Institute’s CEO, Mrs. Shirley Choppy, also shared a copy of the newly developed Institute Brand Toolkit with members of the IECD Local Board. This comprehensive set of guidelines is designed to ensure consistent and effective communication of the Institute’s brand identity across all channels. The presentation was conducted by Mrs. Nathalie Moustache, Director for International Cooperation and Exchange.
On behalf of all participants, Mr. Antoine Onezime expressed strong support for the initiative, noting, “Such information-sharing sessions are very important for journalists and creative artists. This session has enriched them with relevant insights that will benefit their respective work.” Mr. Onezime, a longstanding partner of IECD on various media projects, highlighted the value of ongoing collaboration.
The IECD looks forward to strengthening its partnerships and continuing its mission to support early childhood development through innovative engagement and strategic communication.
