Opening Remarks for Media and Creative Partnership Engagement Session by Chairman of IECD on 13th June 2025, at Canopy Resort at 9:00 am

Distinguished guests and partners,

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to this first-ever ‘Media and Creative Partnership Engagement Session.’ Your presence today shows how important this gathering is, bringing together key media partners.

The IECD-UNESCO Institute is unique in the country, with a special focus on early childhood care and education. We are committed to improving how we communicate our work, listen to feedback, and strengthen our outreach.

One way we do this is through our Advocacy Survey, which we started about 10 years ago. Last year,  we conducted the survey, which help us understand how well our campaigns are working and where we can improve. Later we will share the results with you.

In 2023, we achieved a big milestone: IECD became a UNESCO Category 2 Institute. This international recognition has prompted us to update our communication strategies and develop a new brand toolkit. These tools will help us stay consistent and clear in all our messages, and thus improve awareness and visibility of our brand.

Today, we will introduce these new materials, which are key to building a stronger and more unified identity. This will also help media partners better understand and support our work.

Media and creativity are powerful tools for education and social change. This session is a great chance for us to share ideas, explore collaborations, and strengthen our partnership.

I’m also pleased to share that last week, our Facebook followers reached Three thousand five hundred (3,500). A post honouring our Special Advocate for UNESCO Category 2 for ECCE, Chevalier Joseph Samy, received over 100,000 views and 1,000 likes in a short time. We also published an obituary in the NATION newspaper to remember his great work with IECD. This shows how much visibility we are gaining, even with limited resources.

This meeting is an important step in building stronger relationships with media and creative partners. Together, we can increase awareness, improve engagement, and continue to promote early childhood care and education for the benefit of our children’s holistic development, their families and communities.

I look forward to a productive session and to working together to make a positive impact.

Thank you for your partnership and dedication.
