February 18, 2026On Friday, February 6th, 2026, a second session on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) was held to enhance the capacity of regulatory staff. The goal was to improve their skills in observing and inspecting standards in child care settings, ensuring a safe, healthy, and high-quality environment. This aligns with the Institute’s staff development policy and ongoing efforts to keep professionals updated on child care standards and best practices.
The session, led by Mrs. Stephanie Desnousse and Mrs. Michelle Fred—renowned experts from the Health Care Agency—focused on the importance of balanced diets, safe food handling, and early detection of health and nutrition issues in child care facilities. Participants learned how health indicators influence children’s growth, learning, and development, and how to support healthy routines in care settings.
Discussions addressed common nutrition challenges, hygiene, and food safety standards. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Ms. Ryna Estrale remarked that staff are now better equipped to guide providers, monitor health practices, and foster healthier environments for children.
The Institute sincerely thanks Mrs. Desnousse and Mrs. Fred for their valuable expertise and excellent facilitation. IECD remains dedicated to ongoing capacity building and strong partnerships to promote the holistic development and well-being of all children.
