The Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD) was born as an autonomous entity from the national and international drive to adopt an integrated and holistic approach to child development. Emphasis was on early childhood care and education as the foundation for nation building.
IECD serves as the coordinating, advisory, advocacy and regulatory body for early childhood development in Seychelles. It oversees developmental phases from 0-8 years of age.
IECD was established in January 2013. Its role in this brief period has multiplied to also become the regulator for Childminding Services. It is a statutory body with The Ministry of Education as its parent Ministry.
