IECD / UNESCO Category 2 Institute Welcomes Footprints Daycare Centre into the Family

The IECD / UNESCO Category 2 Institute has officially welcomed Footprints Daycare Centre (formerly known as Sunflower Day Care Centre) into their family. On Monday, February 5th, 2024, Childcare Manager Judy Jean-Baptiste received her provisional Licence of Operation, marking a significant moment for both IECD and Footprints Day Care Centre.

To commemorate this special occasion, a ceremony was held at the IECD Head Office at Fairview House in Perseverance. As part of their commitment to ensuring high-quality service in line with standards for childcare facilities, IECD made token presentations to the Child Care Centre including educational resources, fire safety, and sanitary-related items. Additionally, the manager received a batch of insurance vouchers for each child in her Centre, courtesy of H S Insurance, which will contribute towards their future education.

The Government, which has entrusted the IECD with a new mandate as the regulator for non-compulsory education (0-5 years) under the new Early Childhood Development Act, 2022, looks forward to working together with the management of the Centre to achieve national quality standards. This collaboration aims to ensure that the service positively impacts children’s holistic development and furthers advancements in ECCE in the country.

During the ceremony, Mrs. Judy Jean-Baptiste expressed her happiness at completing this process, which marks the beginning of a longer journey. She emphasized the Centre’s commitment to giving each child a great beginning and their passion for children’s well-being. Mr. David Jean-Baptiste, also present at the ceremony, expressed his gratitude to IECD for their support, stating that the tokens provided will greatly help them achieve their mission.

With the official welcome of Footprints Daycare Centre into the IECD family, it signals a promising future for the Centre and the children it serves.
