IECD-UNESCO Category 2 Institute to Launch CRIIS (Child Care Registration and Inspection Information System) at 2nd Regional Workshop for ECCE

November 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event: Media Interview and CRIIS Briefing

The Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD)-UNESCO Category 2 Institute, will host its 2nd Regional Workshop from 18th to 20th November 2025. The workshop will focus on the “Progress and Way Forward on the Tashkent Declaration and Commitments to Action for Transforming Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)” in the region.

The event will see the intervention of two distinguished personalities in ECCE globally, sharing their insights on global and UNESCO category 2 milestone achievements and challenges. Dr. Manmtsetsa Marope, the Chairperson of the Category 2 Governing Board, will deliver the keynote address and officially open the workshop, whilst the Director of Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems at UNESCO Secretariat, Mr. Borhene Chakroun will share UNESCO’s perspectives on ECCE and the stellar works being carried out to advance ECCE and attain SDG 4.2.

A key highlight of the event will be the official launch of the Child Care Registration and Inspection System (CRIIS), developed in partnership with the Department of Information Communication Technology. This new system marks another phase in the digital transformation of early childhood care and education designed to streamline the process of registration, inspection and reporting of child care services.

Building on the Child Care Benefit Information System Seychelles (CBISS) launched in June last year, CRIIS will modernize and replace current manual, paper-based processes by automating registration, digitizing inspections, and centralizing data for decision-making purposes and future reference of child care services. The platform is set to bring substantial benefits, including increased efficiency internally, support in getting more accurate information and data, and enhanced regulatory compliance.

The media are invited to a special briefing to learn more about this initiative and the regional workshop.

This session will provide media representatives with a comprehensive tour of the CRIIS system and its expected impact on child care services, as well as the objectives and contents of the upcoming regional workshop.
Senior officials from IECD will be available for interviews.
