December 15, 2025

On Thursday, 11th December, the Home-Based Child Care Section convened briefly with the Compliance Team at ABSA Bank for a special handover ceremony held at the IECD office. The Director of Regulatory Affairs, Mr. Alix Joubert, welcomed the delegation from ABSA Bank and expressed the Institute’s sincere appreciation for this generous gesture supporting the child care community in Seychelles.

ABSA Bank kindly donated a selection of educational toys to four registered Home-Based Child Care Services. This contribution is part of its ‘Force for Good’ Initiative—a programme dedicated to giving back to the community and fostering the holistic development of young children in these services. This initiative highlights the vital role that childminders and access to quality resources play in enhancing early childhood development and learning.

The donation was formally accepted by Mr. Joubert on behalf of the CEO, Mrs. Shirley Choppy. Mrs. Brigitte Hoareau and Mrs. Maureen Chang Pen Tive, two of the four registered Childminders set to receive the gifts, were present to personally accept the thoughtful contributions for their services. Mrs. Chang Pen Tive expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing that such support benefits the children in their care and aids in meeting early learning and interaction standards.

This partnership demonstrates how collaborative efforts can directly contribute to the welfare and educational growth of Seychelles’ youngest citizens. The new resources will significantly assist childminders in providing a more engaging and stimulating environment, aligning closely with national standards and promoting better developmental outcomes.
