January 28, 2026Following the first Childminders Excellence Award (CEA) in 2025, our team participated in specialized training on national standards for Child Rights & Protection on 22nd January 2026. On the same day, a complementary session on Safety and Physical Environment Standards was conducted. The aim of these trainings was to enhance staff capabilities for more thorough observations and inspections throughout 2026, ensuring a safe and high-quality environment within early years’ settings.
The highly informative training, aligned with the Institute’s ongoing efforts, has further enhanced the knowledge and skills of regulatory officers. It has enabled them to critically assess compliance requirements and raise awareness of key safety issues and measures, in line with the SFRSA’s regulations.
The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Paul Faure and Ms. Daniella Belize from the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA). The Institute extends its gratitude to them for sharing their expertise and experiences, as well as for the steadfast support of their organization.
Speaking after the training, Ms. Bernadette Pompee, Assistant Registration Officer, described the session as very informative, engaging and a great learning opportunity. “I did not realize that during visits, staff need to scrutinize so many aspects of child care facilities,” she remarked.
This initiative is part of the Institute’s ongoing commitment to building staff capacity and supporting their professional development, with the ultimate goal of improving regulation, inspection processes, and maintaining high standards of care, protection, and quality for all children.
